Retainers Crowns, or "caps" that are designed to support the pontic or pontics. Retainers, or "abutments" are permanently cemented to the teeth adjacent to the space that is "being filled" by the pontic or pontics. (Any type of device used for the stabilization or retention of a prosthesis).
