For a prosthodontist dedicated to dental implant care, the greatest reward is being an instrument of dramatic change. Our patients at the Pi Dental Center all have stories. They choose to invest in their smiles to become more healthy, to become more attractive, to become more stress free, to eat better, to kiss better, and to kiss pain goodbye.
Sometimes, it’s all of the above.
Changing Lives
People only say the cost of dental implant care is expensive before the treatment. Once they possess the smile, they are enamored by their investment. For almost every candidate, sparkling, healthy dental implant smiles are a lifelong, life-changing gift.
The Pi Dental Center’s very first dental implant patient would be well past a hundred years of age if he were still alive. He was the embodiment of adventure, curious, outdoorsy and proverbially tanned. He was passionate for causes, culture and world history, an explorer and collector of the unusual and a champion of the underdog in every venue of life.
Harry loved deep sea diving and personally knew Jacques Cousteau. His plunges into challenging waters ended abruptly though when he lost his teeth. Dentures cannot grasp a mouthpiece to secure underwater breathing, so Harry’s world lost a lion’s share of color and excitement with his loss of teeth. For him, dentures were equivalent to a loss of vision in his favorite dimension of life.
To Harry, dental implants became the magic that returned him to a coveted personal niche. His new smile gave him back years, confidence, and vibrancy. Dental implants single-handedly jump-started his spirit of adventure.
Years later a young woman, former WAVE with her own passion to dive for a living, came to the Pi Dental Center seeking dental implants and hoping to avoid dentures. Her natural teeth were infected and loose and her suffering was both physical and psychological, but the cost of dental implants was beyond her means. Harry’s widow made up the shortfall in honor of her husband, and on the day that the final smile was delivered, she also gave Harry’s storied diving gear to Megan as the crowning gift.
