Dr. Thomas Balshi, Cabrini College recognizes you today for your distinguished life of professional achievement, deep personal commitment to the common good, and service to humankind.

For more than forty years, you have left your mark on your chosen profession of dental surgery as a clinician, researcher, and academic. Of particular note, your work as founder of the Pi Dental Center and the Pi Foundation has directly benefited patients who could not otherwise afford treatment by providing dental care and surgery that could not otherwise afford treatment by providing dental care and surgery that have literally helped the underserved to smile.

You have expressed, and continue to express, your commitment to the common good through your active involvement in organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America, ALS Foundation, Saint Rose of Lima Church, and others.

Your record of distinguished service began with the call to serve your country in the United States Army, where you attained a rank of Captain and earned the United States Army Commendation Medal. This record of service continues even today. Together with your wife Joanne Kovacs Balshi, Class of 1969 and past Chair of the College's Board of Trustees, you have displayed steadfast dedication to, and support for, Cabrini College, enriching the educational experiences of thousands of students through the years.

Indeed, Thomas Balshi, the quality of your accomplishments and the extraordinary role model you provide for students and the entire College community reflect the spirit of Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini and the core values of Cabrini College.
