Early Symptoms:
Mouth sores could be the symptom of a disease or disorder; infection from bacteria, viruses or fungus or result from irritation caused by braces, dentures or the sharp edge of a broken tooth or filling. It is important to have any sores or unusual spots checked by your dentist.
Ongoing Medical Issues:
Make sure your dentist is part of your care team. Your dentist is an important part of your health care team. Medical conditions like diabetes, heart disease, eating disorders and treatments such as radiation, chemotherapy and hormone replacement therapy can have dental consequences.
Be Proactive:
Even if you don’t have any dental symptoms, regular checkups are important because they can help prevent problems from developing and treat existing symptoms before they become advanced.
