Orthodontics is the dental specialty of aligning (straightening) teeth. By improving the alignment of the teeth, braces can help patients to feel less self-conscious, improve dental health and make the bite feel more comfortable.
An orthodontist is a dental specialist who is trained to correct the position of malpositioned teeth.
In a normal mouth, the upper and lower teeth fit precisely together when a patient bites down. The teeth move easily against each other during chewing and the mouth feels relaxed, producing a pleasant appearance. If the teeth do not meet, or if they meet unevenly, a bite problem may be present. Chewing ability and facial appearance may both be affected by one or more common bite problems, such as crossbite or crowded teeth.
The dental specialists at Pi Dental Center work closely with Dr. Sally Gupton, Orthodontist, at our Institute to provide patients with optimal dental treatment.
